These ten different themes give players different styles of touch-screen input to create what can potentially evolve into hypnotic or soothing melodies emanating out of the DS speakers or headphones. Within the cartridge are ten different, unique themes of audio manipulation, each connected in the oceanic theme of marine creatures providing the sounds of Electroplankton. Electroplankton, just released in Japan this past week is, essentially, interactive audio art. Iwai's past work has been seen both in museum displays as well as in retail product ( Sound Fantasy for the Super Famicom, as well as Sim Music on the PC), and Nintendo's creative Nintendo DS system is the man's latest canvas. Volvoice: This plankton will record you voiced and the play it back in different ways.Toshio Iwai has spent an extensive career approaching music in unique and interactive ways.Beatnes: Plays NES music and you can create repeating NES-esque music by touching the plankton on various parts of their bodies.Marine-Snow – Each of these plankton will make a tone when touched, and move about. They glow and make sound according to the direction and speed. Touching one will make it "pling" and clapping twice will make them swim in a circle.

Arrows on the grid, that you can alter, will determine where they move. Depending on what point on the grid they hit they will make a different sound. Luminaria: You will have four plankton on a grid.Depending on the levees they bounce off of they will create different sounds. Hanenbow: These little creatures launch out of a small body of water and bounce off the leaves of plants. The sound they create changes depending on their speed and where they are on the screen. They will move along lines you draw for them, their speed varying on how quickly you drew the lines. Tracy: You will have several plankton. In Performance you can interact with the plankton and create your own audio-visual show. In Audience, the plankton will perform for you, as long as you see fit, or your battery will allow. There are two modes Performance and Audience. Using the DS touch screen, microphone, and other input methods, you can make the plankton to react, creating numerous audio and visual experiences. In Electroplankton players interact with various "plankton" to create "media art".
